Other Malignancies
Genitourinary, gynaecologic, head & neck, sarcoma, melanoma and rare cancers.
Overview
Beyond the common cancers, Global Cancer Care manages a wide range of other malignancies — including prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancers; ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancers; head and neck cancers; sarcomas, melanoma, thyroid and neuroendocrine tumours; and cancers of unknown primary. Each of these has evolving, biomarker-driven treatment options, and each is managed through a multidisciplinary tumour-board approach.
Common Symptoms
- Blood in the urine, semen or unusual vaginal bleeding
- A new or enlarging lump anywhere in the body
- Persistent mouth ulcers, hoarseness or difficulty swallowing
- A changing mole, non-healing skin lesion or new pigmented lesion
- Unexplained pelvic pain, bloating or changes in menstrual pattern
- Persistent bone pain, swelling or unusual fractures
Risk Factors
- Age, family history and hereditary cancer syndromes
- Tobacco, alcohol and betel-nut / gutka use (head and neck cancers)
- HPV, hepatitis B / C and other chronic infections
- Prolonged sun exposure (melanoma and skin cancers)
- Prior radiation exposure or occupational carcinogens
Diagnosis
- Site-specific imaging — MRI, CT, PET-CT and ultrasound
- Endoscopic and image-guided biopsy
- Tumour marker panels (PSA, CA-125, AFP, β-hCG, LDH, calcitonin as relevant)
- Molecular and germline genetic testing for hereditary and targetable mutations
- Coordinated review with subspecialty surgical and radiation oncology teams
Treatment Options
- Active surveillance for low-risk cancers where safe (e.g., low-risk prostate)
- Minimally invasive, robotic and organ-preserving surgery through partner surgeons
- Precision radiation therapy (IMRT, SBRT, brachytherapy) via partner centres
- Hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy
- Bone-targeted therapy and structured pain management
- Palliative and survivorship care integrated from day one

Frequently Asked Questions
Do all prostate cancers need immediate treatment?+
No. Many low-risk prostate cancers can be safely monitored with active surveillance, avoiding overtreatment and preserving quality of life. Higher-risk cancers are treated with surgery, radiation or systemic therapy as appropriate.
My cancer is very rare. Are modern therapies still an option?+
Yes. Even for rare cancers, comprehensive molecular profiling often uncovers targetable mutations, and international guidelines and clinical trials guide treatment decisions.
What if the primary site of my cancer is unknown?+
Cancers of unknown primary (CUP) are worked up with detailed imaging, biopsy immunohistochemistry and molecular profiling to identify the likely origin and select the most effective therapy.
